Cooperative Learning
Along this second and third term, we are working in all English lessons in cooperative groups.
This working way consists on an constant interaction among the members of the group (3 or 4 in each one), sharing their own skills and knowledge of the subject -the what of learning-, as well as the effort to realize the tasks they must develop -the how of learning-. Thus, it also offers many ways of equal participation among group members.
Students develop different rotating roles inside the group: coordinator, secretary, organizer and spokesperson. So that this way of cooperation involves a necessary responsibility of all students. The group’s success depends on the individual efforts to succeed. Therefore, students recognize that all group members share a common aim.
All in all, cooperative learning promotes learners become more independent, which means that they have a role in planning, controlling, and evaluating their own learning process.
